How Skyblue is Building a Commercial Solar Network

Skyblue Products

solar distributor

At heart, Skyblue is a solar distributor. That is still what we do, and Clenergy is still the product we stand behind. But we are starting to build connections and partnerships across the country that are worth sharing.

What We Are Doing on the Ground

We have been out meeting businesses across Canada who are thinking about solar and looking for a solar partner to trust. Skyblue sits in an interesting position in those conversations. We are not an installer trying to close a job. We are a distributor with relationships in the industry that these businesses could benefit from, which means they talk to us differently than they would talk to someone who is also trying to sell them something.

When those conversations lead somewhere, we connect the business with an installer who can actually do the work. The lead is warm because the relationship is already established, and the installer comes in with a degree of credibility that we support.

The Partnership Model

Some of these business relationships go further than a single introduction. When a business partner refers a client to an installer through our network, there is a referral structure in place that gives them a reason to keep making introductions.

The businesses get access to vetted installers they can put their name behind. The installers get qualified leads from people who already understand the value of the project.

Why Businesses Trust Us

The credibility that makes these conversations work comes from the relationships we have built. Clenergy is one of the largest racking manufacturers in the world, and Skyblue is a direct distribution partner. We are also actively working alongside the BC Ministry of Energy on balcony solar policy, pushing for regulatory changes that expand where solar can be installed in the province.

Additionally, we have financing relationships in place so that when someone asks about options, the installers in our network are supported and prepared.

Where Installers Fit In

The Canadian commercial solar market has real momentum behind it right now. The 30% federal Clean Technology ITC, accelerated depreciation for solar equipment, and businesses increasingly seeing the upside in saving on electricity and building an asset they own. This is why we are actively working to connect commercial businesses with installers who can make that happen.

The network we are building is designed to work for both sides. Businesses get connected to installers they can trust, and installers get introductions to businesses that are already thinking about solar. In the end, both parties have Skyblue in their corner to support the conversation.
